The Ruskin School of Acting has created a non-profit theatre in the Santa Monica Airport. Actors, directors, writers, musicians, and other artists will gather to explore, perform, and celebrate contemporary plays, classic pieces and neglected works of the past in order to provide the community with world-class, ground breaking theatre.

We believe that our theatre company will not only provide the artist with a training ground and performance space for the highest artistic expression, but will also benefit the community as a whole. In keeping with this vision we have established what we refer to as a "Healing through the Arts" wing of The Ruskin Group Theatre Company. We currently offer the following outreach programs:

Children's Hospital Performance Program: A program designed for company members to visit and perform for children staying in hospitals. Stories, plays, and theatre games are performed to increase the children's enjoyment, learning, and healing.

Retirement Home Performance Program: A program designed to bringing the arts to the elderly who may no longer have the ability to visit the theatre. Company members give performances in acting, singing, dancing, and improvisation.

Rancho San Antonio Boy's Home Teaching Program: A program designed for at-risk boys to teach them the Meisner technique of acting. Teachers and students, from The Ruskin School of Acting, teach an on-going class to 12 to 18 year old boys living in the Rancho San Antonio Boy's Home. Actors from The Ruskin School also come here to perform on a regular basis.

Prison Performance Program: Company members began this project last year by performing plays for inmates at the Richard J. Donovan correctional facility, a medium-security prison in San Diego.

Camino Nuevo Elementary After-School Teaching Program: A program designed to teach acting classes in the inner city schools. Company members teach acting at the Camino Nuevo elementary school in downtown Los Angeles, in order to promote deeper communication, self-expression, and artistic training for the students.

Hospice Volunteer Program: A program that supports company members with hospice training. The Company members who volunteer are trained in assisting the elderly people during the last period of their life, who do not have the assistance of family members.

Throughout all of these programs our ultimate goal is to expose the community to the life changing experience that the theatre can be and to celebrate the spirit of the artist, the community and audience alike.
